It is all very well to be able to write books, but can you wiggle your ears?

How to Open a Novel

So I’ve been blogging for a week and I’m feeling my way into it. People seem to be reading it, although I’m not sure where they’re coming from. It seems like wizardry to me.

One of the nice things seems to be when people share one of my posts on their blog. This seems like a huge compliment, especially when the people doing the re-blogging have really interesting sites themselves.

So I was chuffed to Betsy when I saw that Words Come Ezine had reblogged my piece about Murdering.

After poking about on Cindy‘s blog, I thought I’d share a great piece about How to Open a Novel. Not as a tit-for-tat Press This love in, but because it’s really useful.

If you haven’t got time to read the whole thing, the most useful line is this:

The trick is to get at the heart of why you wanted to write this novel, and start the novel there.

Makes you want to start something new, doesn’t it?
